After day one of technology, it became clear that my students needed an overview of all the google icons. I created a quick handout and we talked about the purpose of each icon and then placed this paper in our notebooks.

The next step was to launch Google Drive and to begin working on a digital project to get students used to the Chromebooks and their controls. I decided to start with an About Me Animoto video. Animoto is a student friendly website that offers a 6 months free trial for teachers and their classes.
When creating an Animoto video, students must upload pictures from their google drive accounts. Before beginning, I quickly went over how to save a picture to their google drive using the following powerpoint.

As always, I started by showing my students the following video and we discussed the basic step by step process of signing up for Animoto.
I decided to teach google drive and animoto together. I created a google doc with step by step instruction for students to follow. I let them work in teams to sign themselves up and input the promo code that I received for being an educator.
After all this, they were off to work. They first had to fill out a graphic organizer, then they were free to start creating.
