To use Google Classroom, you currently need a school account in google. Our district is a Google Apps for Education district (GAFE), so every student and teacher has a google account. I use Google classroom as a home base for students. All announcements, assignments, and grades come through Google Classroom. I also create multiple classrooms, that revolve around subjects and/or groups.
