This allows them to see the big picture before it gets broken down into steps. More importantly, I keep in on my website for students to watch if they ever need a refresher on that program/technology.
I have found the easiest way to create a video is by using quicktime and iMovie. I am mac person, so I have no idea what the comparables would be on another computer (wevideo and screencastify?). I start by opening quicktime, and clicking new screen recording.

It will give you the option to record full screen or select a section of your screen to record. After you are done recording, share your screen recording with iMovie.

When you are finished with your iMovie, you can share it with youtube (make sure you have a youtube account, it's free). You can edit your video settings to decide how public or private you would like your video to be. Voila! You have video, with a url, that you can send to your students, or you can post on a website.
