The journey has begun with two full classes of fifth grade students. The first week trial run with the new classroom layout went well. I will be doing some fine tuning throughout the next couple of weeks.

Once students where informed of the rules and expectations for our Chrome books they were given their Chromebook number and google login. Our school district has google education accounts for every student. When I taught third grade over the summer, I found it handy to have a login print out that students stapled to their folders. In fifth grade, I just use a 3x5 card that students keep in their binder.

To begin, I started by showing my students how to send an email. I always create a quick video to show students before beginning, and also to have available for students to watch if they ever forget. My next blog will be a detailed step by step walk through of how I create these videos.
I have found it easiest to then walk the class through the process in partners. Then do the same process again flipping partners. This helps alleviate a lot of questions and missing of steps.
